The USD is mostly higher

As the North American traders enter for the day, the GBP is the strongest. The CHF has continued it’s trend higher.   The USD is mostly higher. 

The ranges and changes are showing better action vs the Good Friday and Easter Monday moves, but volatility remains somewhat muted. The EURUSD only has a 19 pip trading range as it moves up and down in trading today:

IN other markets:

  • Spot gold is down -$2.17 or -0.17% at $1272.83
  • WTI crude oil futures are up $0.07 or 0.11% after the sharp runup yesterday on the ending of Iran waivers (effective May 2).

In the pre-market for US stocks, the major indices are higher. Twitter is soaring on a earnings beat (up 7% on the day).  The futures are implying:

  • Dow, +75 points
  • Nasdaq, +13 points
  • S&P,  +5.1 points

In the European markets, indices are mostly lower:

  • German Dax, -0.21%
  • France’s Cac -0.13%
  • UK FTSE +0.48%
  • Spain’s Ibex -0.70%
  • Italy’s FTSE MIB -0.40%

In the US debt market yields are mixed but little changed:

European 10 year benchmark yields are higher after the long Easter weekend:
