As always, leading manufacturers and local brands presented their technological innovations on it. IFA 2017 is a beautiful show where every company tries to attract the attention of visitors. But we have discarded the marketing hull and appreciated all the new products to their worth, choosing the best of the best.
The Japanese corporation presented several products to IFA. The most interesting of them were smartphones Xperia XZ1 and Xperia XZ1 Compact, differing only in size. Both of them are built on the basis of the top processor Qualcomm Snapdragon 835. They have a built-in MotionEye camera with the ultra-slow shooting mode (960 frames / s), which we saw in the flagship Xperia XZ Premium. He is still the top model in the line of flagship smartphones Sony Xperia XZ.
The main feature of the new smartphones was the 3D Creator function, which makes it possible to scan objects in three-dimensional space. Thus, you can create a model of any subject or even a person’s head for example, to then integrate the image of a person into various games on the Sony Playstation. For now it looks more like a toy, but in the future it can become a very useful tool, especially in connection with the rapid development of 3D printing and prototyping.
Most of all I liked Philips monitors. First, the company showed a new series of curved displays of E-Line monitors with a wide range of colors and support for AMD Free Sync technology, which will be useful for designers and gamers.
There were also huge 4K-monitors Momentum with a diagonal of 43 inches for those who like to play on consoles. The monitor for games is much more preferable, because standard TVs have very bad response time, besides, if the TV does not need a home, then there is no reason to overpay for all the functions that it has.
At IFA 2017 Philips also showed its first 8K display with a diagonal of 31.5 inches and a resolution of 7680 × 4320. On sale it will come only in the next year, the price so far is kept secret.
But the most interesting to me seemed flat monitors P-rulers with a resolution of QHD (4K) and a powerful stand with adjustable height and tilt of the screen. They connect to the computer via USB Type-C (for Mac) or USB 3.0. And the entire periphery is connected directly to the display.
Motorola / Lenovo
In Berlin, Motorola / Lenovo showed a new smartphone Moto X4. This is a mid-range phone with Qualcomm Snapdragon 630 on board and a 5.2 “Full HD LCD display. It has 3 GB of RAM and 32 GB of memory for applications (there is also a version with 4 and 64 GB, respectively), a fingerprint scanner, a dual camera (12 and 8 megapixels) and, most importantly, Moto finally made a full protection from water and dust according to IP68. For sale in Europe, this smartphone comes in September at a price of about 400 euros. He should reach us a bit later, but the price is still unknown.
Like many, Lenovo has taken on augmented and mixed reality (not without the help of Microsoft) and released the Lenovo Explorer helmet, and together with Disney has made a Star Wars: Jedi challenges set a helmet with a translucent glass in which to install a smartphone. Controller here is the handle of the Jedi sword, plus a special sensor is needed to work, which is put on the floor and helps the software determine the boundaries of the room. The feeling of the game is very unusual, as if you really attack the Sith, and you fight with them. But for now it is still a little crude product. However, before its release in December this year, I hope that Lenovo will have time to fix everything.
